Boom. Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster, in his most recent blog post, fires back at a South Carolina AG after he "accused craigslist, and [Buckmaster] personally, of engaging in criminal acts." See, after AG Henry McMaster demanded Craigslist remove their 'erotic services' section (a racy classified service already found in many major publications), due in part to the 'Craigslist Killer' story that took the media by storm, Buckmaster expertly fired back, "Have you fully considered the implications of your accusations against craigslist? What’s a crime for craigslist is clearly a crime for any company. Are you really prepared to condemn the executives of each of the mainstream companies linked above, and all the others that feature such ads, as criminals?"

Craigslist Reportedly Dropping Erotic Service Listings
Craigslist will get remove their pay-for-play "erotic services'' category. According to AP, the classified ad site is feeling pressure after a Boston medical student (AKA the "Craigslist Killer") was charged with killing an escort he allegedly met via Craigslist. Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who championed the censoring of the controversial category, said, ""We're very encouraged that Craigslist is doing the right thing in eliminating its online red light district with prostitution and pornography in plain sight. We'll be watching and investigating critically to make sure this measure is more than just a name change." But don't get too excited just yet as this could be just a lot of hot air from a few angry AGs. As of this morning, "erotic services" remains up and going strong.
Craigslist Killer Suspect's Fiancee Moves On
Megan McAllister, the NJ woman engaged to suspected Craigslist killer Philip Markoff, is moving on with her life after dumping the jailed medical student. She was spotted visiting him at his jail yesterday—without her engagement ring—and her lawyer said the two had a "candid, frank" talk and that "it's time to move on with other things in her life." McAllister, who met Markoff while they were students at SUNY Albany, had previously made public statements standing by Markoff and continued to, sort of: Her lawyer said this morning, "I think she feels that she’s supportive of him. The man that she knew and loved for four years is not the man that’s being portrayed in the media." Like how her fiancee allegedly looked for women, gays and transgender people on Craigslist?
'Craigslist Killer' Into Male Genetalia?
According to new reports, Philip Markoff, AKA the Craigslist Killer, accused of murdering 26-year-old masseuse Julissa Brisman, also went after biological men. An anonymous source in Boston told NBC News "I posted an ad on Craigslist under 'males for transsexuals' ... "That's where he found me." Though the two never met, Markoff replied to the tranny delight using the e-mail address sexaddict5385@yahoo.com, saying, "I am a 22 y/o grad student. 6'3", 205, good build, blond/blue eyes ... let me know what else you want to see or know about me." Markoff also send the source explicit photos of himself, which helped him identify Markoff to police. Markoff, a deeply in debt medical student with a Scott Peterson-like charm, is also suspected of robbing a woman in a Boston hotel prior to Brisman's murder.
'Erotic Services' to Remain Open In Wake of Craigslist Killer
After Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal asked Craigslist to remove its 'erotic services' section, and "hire staff to screen images and ads that are in violation of the website's terms of service and take measures to fine users found in violation" due to heat stemming from the Craigslist Killer, Craig Newmark, Craigslist's CEO, said he has no plans to shutdown the pay-for-play section of the site. He also pointed out that CL already has flagging capabilities from the general public. "Sometimes a bad guy of some sort tries to pull a fast one on our site. We don't want it there, it's wrong, and that's why we have the help of the general community and the law enforcement," said Newmark.
Craigslist CEO Feels Bad About the Craigslist Murders
In response to the Craiglist Killer's murder spree -- a really unfair sobriquet; but nice try, MSM -- Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster told CNN that "the company feels 'terribly' that an accused killer in Boston allegedly used the online service to target his victims." The Craigslist killer, for those of you who don't know, used the 'erotic service' section of the popular ad site to lure his victims to their horrific deaths. In response to a series of e-mailed questions from the Globe, Buckmaster also went on to say "I would not describe any section of our site as 'sex related.'" Which? Is arguable, to say the least. All of this stems from Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal more or less placing most of the blame on Craigslist for the killings, instead of one man's disturbed mind.
