Anyone else a little worn out from all this running around to rock shows? Nothing a little hot coffee and a fresh giveaway can't fix. We are so excited about the show at the Knockout this Saturday, and not just because it's walking distance from our apartment. What we're really excited about is the fact that Craig Wedren is playing. For those of you who don't recognize his name, he's the former frontman of Shudder......

Our concert picks for the week of 10/27 - 11/2. Don't forget to "fall back" on Saturday night. The bad news is that it'll be all dark and creepy on our trip home from work, but the good news is that you'll have one extra hour to rock this weekend. Thursday 10/27 Captured! By Robots and Dead Hensons @ Bottom of the Hill The Joggers @ Popscene Negativland performs "Over The Edge" live in concert......

...drunk!
Last week's winner: the The Guardian. Muni fare hike, rrrrgh! The Guardian shakes its fist at you. Arlene Ackerman writes a defensive letter ("I have never claimed to be perfect and my staff and I make missteps like any other human beings." Nothing good can follow that statement.) Local politics: why isn't a sports agent attorney being prosecuted for stealing money from his client? (answer: well-connected). Burning Man, part 15 of a 78-part series. Cover article: Feel-bad romantic comedies. And Inside Deep Throat: the ultimate That's 70s Show.
SF Weekly: We raced through the letters and Matt Smith so we could take the "Are you an apologist for Chris Daly?" quiz. God, this is So Fricken Good. We scored: "Please make this guy the next president of the Board of Supervisors. My TiVo would never be the same." Ladies, order your Mrs. Chris Daly t-shirts now! Cover article: Sweet Jesus, can this issue get any better? The cover article is about Journey!! Steve Perry is totally the emo-est singer alive. Meredith Brody sniffs disdainfully at the food at the Scharffen Berger café. Conor Oberst, making a run for Steve Perry's title. The clubs columnist goes to the Zeitgeist to think about Metallica. Savage Love: cancer survivor wants to have an affair, does kidney stone medication affect semen, and a complicated letter involving gurneys in Canada that we don't really quite understand.
Don't stop believin', after the jump. ...

...to avoid the State of the Union address!
The The Weekly. Editor John Mecklin says maybe the reason why the Guardian sued their parent corporation is because Brugmann makes bad business decisions (long litany of bad business decisions is then detailed). Gawkeresque levels of media-on-media violence! Cover article: Nate Cavalieri on Shawn Richard, a man who integrates gang members back into everyday society. SF Indiefest this week! Music reviewer misses Luna like a BFF. And Savage Love: sexual fantasies, not having sex with someone when you don't actually like them, and whether or not to have sex with someone asleep.
The Guardian. Political pages: Nader needs cash, local news media sucks. Getting better deals on cable. The guy on the cover of the Guardian two weeks ago got his job back. Food: kohlrabi! Cover article: Neck Face (plus a Neck Face interview)! Sundance blew. SF Indiefest this week! Go to the Can't Stop Won't Stop release party next Tuesday! And Ashlee Simpson's awesome (writer claims that she sings at about same level as Conor Oberst). ...
