We received a curt Oscar-related message this morning: Um, how the did No Country for Old Men win best picture? Not sure. But if we had to pick our favorite lots-of-dust-and-blood film of the year, it would go to There Will Be Blood. We first became aware of Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music back in 2000, when the Coen Brothers' released O Brother, Where Art Thou?
