Scene From a Clinton-Newsom Gathering

This begs for some sort of poll. Here you go:

(By DCist's Sommer Mathis, one of the few official bloggers who is attending the DNC as official member of the state blogger corps.)

Clinton and the gays, two things that gets Gavin's tongue wagging.

Well, frankly, neither had we. That is, until we read this crazy -- yet, not so crazy -- article on Republicans in Ohio switching party alliances and voting Democratic. 16,000 Republicans, to be exact.

SFist's dear neighbor's, Wired, came across this racially explosive internet meme on the Daily Kos, which is set to have Democrats duking it out online. According to the Daily Kos, someone in the Clinton campaign took Obama's image from this video and darkened (a la OJ Simpson gracing the covers of Time and Newsweek) for this commercial. According to the Kos:

Usually when a Presidential candidate announces his VP choice it's either to try and help him win some state or area that could help him win or to try and strengthen an apparent weakness. For example, Bill Clinton chose Al Gore to help him try and win the south. And in 2000, George Bush selected Dick Cheney to help alleviate concerns about his lack of experience and evilness. So with that, we announce that Ralph Nader's choice as his Vice President is our very own Matt Gonzalez.

Making her move at juuust the right time, Jackie Speier is a shoo-in to fill Tom Lantos' seat by April 8 if she gathers a majority of votes in a special, pre-primary election. But first, according to the Merc:

If this San Francisco woman is any kind of bellwether, Hillary Clinton will not win in San Francisco tomorrow.

According to the Sentinel:

  • This Sunday is that football championship tournament known as the Super Bowl. And with it comes its array of advertising amusement. (Please, pray for no Burger King commercials. "People freaked" is the single worst ad campaign in this history of ever.) [SFGate]

John Edwards has overtured the Chutes and Ladders board, packed up his Gobots, and is going home. The Democratic and Coulterian faggot candidate, it seems, has dropped out of the presidential race. See ya, Johnathan. Who will former the North Carolina senator endorse? Not sure. But according to AP:

That's a picture taken by reader Angela of a counter-protest sign at the June 07 Ed Jew rally that says "RESIGN" in Chinese. Well, Angela -- that day is nigh: City Attorney Dennis Herrera takes a break from infuriating the ACLU, the NRA, and Mark Geragos to announce that he's holding a press conference at 1 p.m. where Ed Jew is expected to resign from the Board of Supes.

  • Denied.

Did she find a horse's head in her office chair the day before? Embattled Susan Leal, who's refused to bow to pressure from Gavin Newsom to resign her position as the general manager of the SF Public Utilities Commission, was hit by a car outside City Hall as she was leaving meetings just before noon today. She was rushed to the hospital, where they found she was okay, if a little shaken.

Let's hope no oil tankers crash into the Bay Bridge this week -- Gavin's out of town again, this time bundled up for snow as he campaigns for Hillary Clinton in Iowa. Not quite as temperate in the middle of the country right now as it was in his last two vacation spots this month -- guess Gavin still owes the Clintons for backing him in 2003 against non-Democrat Matt Gonzalez, huh?

The hostage standoff is over. No one died. Nothing went ka-blam. The "deranged man" at Clinton's HQ was simply the town crazy infamous around those parts for his kooky mental instability. (Then, this situation must happen on a daily basis over at Hillary Clinton's SF headquarters.) According to CBS 5: WBZ Radio's Lana Jones learned that the [wacky] man's stepson reported to police that his stepfather had been drinking for two days. The son...

Update: Sen. Barack Obama's campaign office in Rochester and John Edwards' offices have also been evacuated. Our sister site, Bostonist is live-blogging the situation right now. Apparently, a man wants to "speak to Hillary Clinton. He has two hostages (maybe more) and [allegedly has] a bomb strapped to his chest ... police have asked the media not to take live shots of the building." Yikes. A little bit of breaking news well outside of...

Pitchfork has a rich article Fugazi's Joe Lally having thousands of dollars worth of equipment stolen from his touring van while it was parked on Valencia Street. Overnight.

Sure. We'd love to see Hilary Clinton win just for the darling Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton pattern that's coming along nicely, but we're also curious about this Barack Obama fella. He seems to be some guy running for President of the U S of A, and you can see him this Wednesday night. He's here to talk, make the rounds, look deep into your eyes, and probably make nice with a few unreasonably sensitive gays.

We this picture of *NSYNC's out memoirist Lance Bass at a Halloween party at the Clift Hotel - love love love love love!!! (Are we the only people mildly interested in reading his new book, "Out of Sync," to see if he names anyone else in the pop world who might be gay?). Thanks to Drew Altizer for sending it along!
