Phillyist prepared to party by doing the hustle, lighting the lights, shopping up a storm, and... visiting Khrushchev? LAist continues to cover the Hollywood Writers Strike with visiting guest "strikers" such as KT Tunstall and Presidential candidate John Edwards. To celebrate Veteran's Day, they visited a Civil War reenactment and to celebrate Geography Week, they asked all the Los Angeles City Councilmembers about the districts they represent finding that LA's 180+ official neighborhoods are......

Yay! Exciting news. We just love award shows! And now we have something to look forward to. Something to be proud of. Something that will take our gaze off of Ryan Seacrest’s creepy, over-animated mouth. Wait, what? The San Francisco cast of Jersey Boys is performing at the Emmys? Whoop-dee-do. How are we supposed to get excited about that? Sorry to be a tease, but we do have one thing to look forward to......

Sorry we're a little late putting up SFist Mihi's last SFJFF review! Judith Schaefer's movie, So Long Are You Young, screened at the Roda Theatre in Berkeley on Tuesday and when the lights went back up, the crowd of mostly senior citizens were on their feet wildly applauding the filmmaker. Imagine, hordes of people reading a sort of narrative story on paper! No electricity required (save, perhaps, for reading lights). ...

Oooooh, romance. Every Monday we review a slew of nifty comic books, courtesy of the neato kids at Isotope Comics, but we didn't expect the get a warm mushy feeling this week. Nevertheless, tiny little hearts and flowers bubbled out of our head as we read "True Story, Swear to God," the first volume of a romantic autobiographical comic book series by former Napa resident Tom Beland. A few years back, just as he......

All those long waits on the N Judah for no forseeable reason have made SFist a big fan of our fine local bookstores and from the San Francisco Public Library. After all, how will we recognize ourselves in missed connections, if not by a mention of the book we're reading?...
