Discerning MUNI rail riders have known for a while now to bring small change to Church Street Station, as the quarter-dispensing machine has been broken there for over a week. We were (thankfully) exiting Church this morning, and saw that the other, dollar-coin-dispensing machine, is also broken. That explained the poor woman we saw at the turnstiles, pleading with the gate agent to accept her U.S. currency.

Remember last week when we saw those fun pretend displays that Muni put up in Church Station for no discernible reason? We were down in Church Station yesterday, and we were pleased to see that MUNI has put something in at that location! All of that public comment that MUNI didn't bother to collect must have really told them something....
At three o'clock today we tried to take the M out to SF State. The overhead sign at Church Station switched from showing only "K in Seven Minutes" to "Next Trains In Subway - Delayed." We left the station in disgust.
Today is an exciting day in the world of San Francisco transit as we move from Phase I of the Metro Overhead Line Replacement Project (MOLRP) and start Phase II. Woo hoo! We hear there was a celebration in honor of the start of Phase II which largely consisted of Nathaniel Ford breaking a champagne bottle on the first delayed run of the J Church.
