"><p>Here are the rules for the inside of City Hall, <a href="http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/12/05/BAUJTO8FM.DTL&amp;hw=holiday+star+public&amp;sn=012&amp;sc=187">per Messrs. Matier and Ross</a>: "First up, let's get the name right: It's not Christmas, it's either the "holiday season" or the "winter season" - at least if you go by the Nov. 21 memo issued to department heads by Human Resources Director Micki Callahan." M&amp;R go on to add, "And definitely no stars on top of trees." </p>

<p>Maybe that's for indoor trees only, because we certainly see a star on top of the big one outside in the middle of Civic Center. Oh well.
