There's been much ado about the rather large sea dwellers that have recently visited our general area. On KQED's blog, we saw that Amy Miller, a coordinating producer for QUEST, posted about a recent show about the smaller sea-dwelling visitors to our area.

She's Everywhere! We Talk To TWOP's Keckler, aka Stephanie V.W. Lucianovic
Stephanie V.W. Lucianovic is a culinary school graduate that writes about food and television. What's not to love? She's best known for her scathing, funny, and exhaustive coverage of several shows over at Television Without Pity, where she uses the nom du plum of Keckler--we'll be the first to admit (as we have before): her coverage of Top Chef is second to none. She's also a regular at where we first met her), and has her very own food-centric bloggie, The Grub Report. Check out our recent discussion for details on an a cup of salsa's epic journey, a bit on being a cheese archivist, the ressurection of our favorite word from Top Chef Season Two ("craveable"), and some insight into the challenges in writing loads and loads about television at the very popular TWOP.
Week in -Ists
Between fake terrorist alerts and scandals big and small, this just might be the Best Best of the -ists ever. We're exhausted just thinking about it.
First up, SFist, who saw their little 'ole site be the center of what was a nice little scandal (even getting their editor on TV) only to find their scandal dwarfed by the even bigger scandal caused by their Mayor boffing one of his aides' wife. We're not just tooting our horn when we say we think SFist summed up the whole thing better than anyone: Holy Crap!!!!!
MTT Scores Again.
A few years back, we were flipping the channels, and we ended up on a program on PBS. We recognized Michael Tilson-Thomas and at first, we were thinking, hey, it’s our MTT, what is he up to? We stayed a while for the local angle, as we would have had we caught, say, the Warriors on ESPN, or Gavin on a Sunday morning political show, or SFist Jer on Check Please!. But then we got hooked: we had to watch the thing till the end. It was a behind the scene look at how MTT and the orchestra prepare for a Tchaikovksy symphony, and boy was it well made: the piece was placed in a historical context, there were ample excerpts of the orchestra playing, you would get a good feel for the piece, and the things to notice in the score and in its interpretation were highlighted, with MTT or the orchestra members giving a short yet articulate explanation.
We Survived Being On Local TV (So Far): A True Story
We had a brief moment last summer when we felt like delving into fame whorism. As of right now, mere hours before our television debut, we're wondering why--and we're on the verge of a breakdown. We certainly don't think we'll be as smooth tonight on Check Please! Bay Area as friend of SFist, Burritophile Dan Johnson, was on Bay Area Backroads last Saturday. We're not experts; we just like to eat.
SFist Drinking Game: Our Trimethyldioxypurist!
You know we've got this thing now where whenever an SFist staffer appears on TV, we do a drinking game for 'em! Well, our brave Trimethyldixoypurist/Top Chef Go To Man SFist Jeremy's a featured guest on Check Please! Bay Area, the KQED show!
Wanna Be a Pundit?
We received a nice note from Wendy over at KQED's Bay Area Bites Blog who tipped us off about the following opportunity:
