Remember this guy? The guy who escaped from juvenile hall during recess, or whatever correctional facilities for the young call their break time? (Do you think they have "pizza Fridays" in juvie?) Well, he's still missing. And there's a Central Valley manhunt in progress for the allegedly murderous rapscallion, and the sheriff's office is offering up a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to his capture. If you recall, the (former?) member of......

At the dewy-fresh hour of 6 a.m., Oakland police officers, Alameda County sheriff's deputies, and agents with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI went on an Oakland-wide spree of busts for heroin trafficking (as well as "cocaine and marijuana, " at least according to this morning's Mornings On 2's.)...

You mean those train tracks are actually used by real trains? The City of Berkeley is working to implement a quiet zone to prevent the freight trains from sounding their whistles at intersections due to complaints from residents of this traditionally industrial area. While we find train horns romantic, we must admit that we might find them less so if they were not so off-in-the-distance. Though we wonder why the City didn't make the developers......

It's looking like a dreaded nut ring that has been terrorizing the Central Valley has been broken up as police arrested the two ringleaders on Sunday. The thieves, named Alvin and Simon, were caught with about $400,000 dollars worth of nuts on them. They were caught on Sunday when an alert factory worker noticed that several people were taking nuts out of boxes marked with the names of Central Valley nut companies and putting them into unmarked boxes. After about eleven people were taken into questioning, only two of them were charged....

The third sign of the apocalypse is upon us (the first being the TomKitten and the second being, um.... the closing down of all the local independent bookstores), as the weather reports grimly predict that water will fall from the sky over the weekend. What?? It's May! It's not supposed to rain in May! Actually, the National Weather Service says that the average Bay Area May gets 3 days and a half-inch of rain. That......

A week of rain brings out the best in travel and food bloggers -- why not beat the weather and take a trip or stay indoors to cook something nice? Ginevra Kirkland leverages the internets to take a vacation to Hawaii without leaving her desk, while Bay Area Bites looks to foodie blogs for culinary inspiration. Bacon Press takes in the almond blossom season in the Central Valley. Still, nothing better to chase the......

This Saturday, there will be a big abortion protest taking place in the city in response to it being 32nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. We know- big yawn. Except it’s not what you think, it’s an anti-abortion rally. At first, when SFist heard about this, we thought it was a joke, you know ironic- kind of like all those Billionaires for Bush protests. But it’s not a joke, it’s real. There will be a......
