Obviously, this isn't local (though we did get a small East Bay "jiggle" this morning) but definitely of local interest: it seems, according to KRON 4, a 8.0 earthquake hit "90 miles southeast" of Lima, Peru this afternoon, just off of the coast. Major power outages are reported. But from what we hear, they're deep quakes -- about 20-30 miles or more down. And a tsunami warning/watch is in effect for the coast of South......

Come celebrate the recently relocated Cal Academy of Science museum, now on Howard between 4th and 5th Streets and the rejuvenation of their exhibit on ants. (We would have used the picture of the big ant colony [scroll down] to illustrate this posting but -- well, it freaked us out. Sorry.) Rejuvenation, you ask? Why rejuvenation? Well, so the ants exhibit used to house over a million army ants in a big glass case. Unfortunately......
