Sad news, Golden Girls fans. Rue McClanahan (AKA Blanche Devereaux) canceled her November 14 tribute at the Castro Theatre. The actress, it seems, is laid up in the hospital over an ailing heart.

"My darlings, I'm just devastated that I am going to have to miss my own tribute at the Castro Theatre," McClanahan said today from her hospital room. "Unfortunately, my doctor has laid down the law, and I'm currently having some maintenance on the old ticker. Trust me, I'd much rather be in San Francisco having fun and being adored by all of you."

Refunds can made via ticket vendors, or call 415 863-0611 for more information.

The show's producer, Marc Heustis, says, "Our collective hearts go out to Ms. McClanahan for a speedy recovery," while going on to suggest "the possibility of the event being rescheduled sometimes in the future."

The gala event was supposed to feature career clip reel, sing-along to the theme from The Golden Girls, a GG look-a-like contest, and hostess merriment with tranny superstar Heklina.

Today's Blue Angels Show Cancelled Due to Fog

The skies above San Francisco just got a little quieter.
The skies above San Francisco just got a little quieter. According to SFAppeal/BCN, "Heavy fog in San Francisco caused the cancellation of today's Blue Angels air show, a spokeswoman for Fleet Week said." The show was scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

The Blue Angels, it seems, "are not allowed to be flown in air shows when fog has settled below 1,500 feet."

Sunday's jet show is still planned for 3 p..m -- unless, of course, fog intervenes again.

Cancerous Tumor Causes Beastie Boys Tour Cancellation

Well, this is some depressing news on this oddly gloomy summer day. The Beastie Boys are canceling their upcoming tour, as well as postponing their new album release, because doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in Adam Yauch's left parotid (salivary) gland. Yauch explains his treatment and the band's future in the video above.

In a statement, Yauch also explained, "I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we'll release the record and play some shows. It's a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because i was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later."

If you recall, the Beastie Boys were supposed to headline one of the days at the Outside Lands Festival in August.

Halloween In the Castro Cancelled Forevermore?

Our sources tell us that Halloween in the Castro as we knew it is now dead. Long live a dull and tedious San Francisco.

Although supervisors promised us that Halloween in the Castro would return for 2008, it turns out that it will not make a spooktacular comeback; in fact, it won't return at all. The event is no more. Dead. It seems that the Entertainment Commission -- whose job, it seems, is to prevent entertainment from happening within the 7x7-mile radius of San Francisco -- has come up with the brilliant idea that the bombastic and very San Francisco holiday, Halloween in the Castro, will be finished.

So, will the Castro be on lock down every Halloween? We're dying to find out. And we're disgusted. How about you?

To recap, last year Halloween in the Castro was canceled, which saw all of the neighborhood's bars and clubs close down as the predominately queer neighborhood tunned into a police state for the night.
