San Francisco's much-loved (and overstuffed!) carne asada burritos have been put to the test. What test? The taste-test. Ryan Farr (4505 Meats), Prisca Chen (winner of burrito judge contest on 7x7.com), Matthew Accarrino (SPQR), Margo True (Sunset magazine editor), and Charles Hodgkins (Burrito Eater). El Farolito and Papalote, unsurprisingly, were tops. Check out 7x7 to see who reigns supreme. [via Grub]

Mission Burrito Book Crowns #1 Burrito In S.F.
While some argue that a steamy San Francisco burrito is as complex and interesting as a clam chowder sourdough bread bowl, the local foil-wrapped burrito -- packed with rice... and stuff -- has its fans. Many of them, in fact. Probably you. Which is why the superb 2010 Mission Burrito Book, a site devoted to one man's burrito-eating experience, culminated yesterday by naming the top burrito in San Francisco. Papalote came in at #5, Los Coyotes at #4, El Metate at #3, and... well, you'll have to visit 2010 Mission Burrito to find out the top 2 picks. (The entire site, brief and to the point, is worth a look.) [Grub Street]
It's On: LA vs. SF Burritos
LA Weekly baits San Franciscans in Ask Mr. Gold's most recent column. Erica, a Los Angeles-based reader, writes in to ask about her "friend in town from Berkeley" who loves burritos but is set in her Bay Area commie pinko burrito eating ways. What should Erica do?
Mmmmm, Taco Truck: Los Compadres Taqueria
No need to bury the lead: the Los Compadres taco truck that does business at Spear & Folsom is yummy. We enjoyed a rather large burrito there recently. At five bucks for the basic model, it's not too hard on the wallet.
