For those following, it's been a festive and meaty ride. As a finale, Eater editor Allie Pape asked some local food bloggers to share their favorite local burgers and fries.

Your SFist editor, lacking imagination, selected Marlowe/Park Tavern and In-N-Out animal-style fries. We've talked about both dishes before. But trendy or not, the shit is good. Other local writers with better burger bon mots include: Jonathan Kauffman ("Instead of fries, which aren't that hard to do well, can I nominate the hush puppies at the Wexler's Back truck?"), Paolo Lucchesi ("I'm of the mindset that burgers are best enjoyed in backyards or dark bars"), Jennifer Maerz ("As a vegetarian who doesn't eat fried food, I am of no help to you."), Broke-Ass Stuart ("...Shut the Fuck Up"), and more.

Read their favorites and more over at Eater.
EaterSF will kick off their first-ever Burger Week starting today. In addition to all things hamburger-related, Eater readers will decide which burger in the Bay Area is the best. "Based on our reader submissions over the past week and our own editorial savvy, we've chosen 16 burger contenders and placed them into four categories. (NB: Massive shilly write-in campaigns did not guarantee inclusion in the bracket). The four categories are critics' favorite burgers, classic-style burgers, new school burgers and high class burgers," reports Eater. Lucky for you, readers, we already know what the best burgers in the Bay Area are. True. Behold:

Critics' favorite burgers: Marlowe
Classic-style burgers: In-N-Out Double-Double
New school burgers: 2 In-N-Out Double-Doubles
High class burgers: Animal Style In-N-Out Double-Double

Ta-da! There you have it. If you must, though, you can head over to Eater to select your favorite. (Today's poll? Critics favorite!)

Bauer Finally Discovers SF's Best Burger?

SF Chronicle food critic Michael Bauer says he might have found the city's best burger: Marlowe's.
SF Chronicle food critic Michael Bauer says he might have found the city's best burger: Marlowe's. (A phenomenal SOMA-Mission Bay joint, we might add.) How so, you ask? Bauer speaketh: "[T]he moist patty is made with a 80/20 percent lean to fat ratio with a little lamb mixed in to give a bolder, earthier flavor." There's also cooing about an Acme bun, mad horseradish-aioli slathering, bacon, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, cold shredded lettuce. SFist had the same best-burger debate back in March, which proved fruitless as there are simply too many places serving too fine beef patties.

Mayor Newsom Offers Burger for Your Blood

SFist's favorite lady with whom to party, Tablehopper, reports that Balboa Cafe will be serving up free hamburgers to anyone who donates a pint of blood.

SF News

blood

burger

Newsom

Brock Keeling

[Warning: faint-worthy post to follow.]

SFist's favorite lady with whom to party, Tablehopper, reports that PlunpJack's Balboa Cafe will be serving up free hamburgers to anyone who donates a pint of blood. In her latest newsletter, Marcia tells us:

Ever wonder about the legendary ~BALBOA CAFÉ~ burger? Now's your chance: they will be dishing out a free Balboa Burger to anyone who donates a pint of blood aboard Blood Center of the Pacific's (BCP) bloodmobile parked outside on Thursday, April 3, 1pm–6pm. To donate blood, one must be healthy, at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds or more (you hear that, tiny Marina girls?). To schedule an appointment time, please contact Emily Thrasher, e_thrasher@plumpjack.com or 415-346-5712. Walk-in donors will also be accepted. To make an appointment online, visit www.bloodheroes.com.

Presumably the gays cannot give blood along with the anorexic Marina girls. Alas. But still, the remaining 95% (okay, fine--65%) of our readership should contact Emily Thrasher for nice, juicy, thick, warm hamburger in exchange for having more than a cup of blood pumped out of your system via a thin, hollow needle. Mmm.
