Colorful t-shirts deck out this Gap building on Brannan (between Second and Third), brightening up an otherwise dreary block.

Sold: Building Housing Castro Sober Space
Staying sober in the Castro is like trying to stay sober in the Castro. It's quite trying, what with all of the bars and dealers within hinged-wrist's length. Enter the Castro Country Club, a tiny clubhouse, if you will, located on 18th Street that allows sober addicts to socialize comfortably within a queer space without getting ripped to the tits. The building housing the space was sold this week. So, does the club once again stand in a state of peril? Not likely.
SF Supervisor Introduces Legislation Protecting Birds from Buildings
Pardon us if we somehow didn't notice this little bit of local legislation until we slammed right in to it today: Supervisor Mar, famously responsible for banning Happy Meals, pushed through new legislation this afternoon to "establish standards for bird-safe buildings." The problem, as anyone with a sliding glass door and a backyard full of avian life has probably noticed, is that birds tend not to notice clear glass window panes. Mar's legislation would require less transparent or non-reflective glass on new buildings and construction projects in the city.
Grossness Gains Steam In Ugliest SF Building Poll
Continuing the saga of naming San Francisco's most vile architectural misstep, Curbed's Ugliest Building in San Francisco poll has some serious contenders -- the Metreon, Chinatown Hilton, One Rincon Hill (!) and SOMA Grand, just to name a few. Pulling ahead of the pack are the shoebox-y Fox Plaza, the Marriott "Jukebox" Marquis, and The City Center (Best Buy/Former Mervyn's) on Geary. Vote now.
It's Not the Gorgeous New Federal Building, That's for Sure
Curbed is making us think again with their new contest: name the ugliest building in San Francisco. And in a city famous for its twee charm, there's still an impressive from which to choose: Fox Plaza building, those ugly condos in the Outer Richmond and Outer Sunset, the structure across the street from the 16th Street Bart stations that houses a McDonalds, anything at the intersection of Van Ness and Market... the possibilities are endless. Head over to Curbed to make your aesthetic preferences heard. (For the record, this is the most beautiful/groundbreaking building in San Francisco.)
