  • The Sound of Young America Live: Live public radio featuring Jesse Thorn, Morgan Murphy, Merlin Mann, Danny Hoch, and Bucky Sinister perform le stand-up hot. Zach Rogue (of Rogue Wave) provides the music. It's indie rock and comedy all rolled into one. Ta-da! Oh, and it's part of SF Sketchfest, so you know it's good. Show starts at 8 p.m. at the Eureka Theatre; $10.
  • BiFriendly Social: A bisexual coffee klatch for men and women who lean on both sides of the fence. (No, not for you alterafag Manhunter subscribers who claim bisexuality only in effort to entice seemingly straight men, but for authentic bi guys. Wherever they may be.) Tonight's lesbian dance party features old-school, hip hip, Latin, and pop sounds featuring DJs Kathy Calenti and Calitos will have you all on the dance floor well after 3 a..m. Cream, it seems, has "gained a cult following of women who come from all over Northern CA to enjoy this extremely diverse group of people gathering together to dance and socialize through music.     With Dr. Hunter S. Thompson moving on to bigger and better things, writers, critics, stoners and other hangers-on are organizing tributes around the country and around the world. But we have a feeling that the only one Hunter himself would have attended would be right here in San Francisco at the Edinburgh Castle Pub. Sure, Jahn Wenner will probably throw some blockbuster event full of literary luminaries in New York, but we all know that Rolling Stone lost any counter-cultural relevance it may have had when they moved across the country, and it's in San Francisco where the independent spirit and the embrace of the surreal that was Thompson's legacy still lives on.
