Welcome to Sixth Street, Dottie's True Blue Café!

The much loved Dottie's True Blue Café reopened today for breakfast and lunch (7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at 28 Sixth Street, otherwise known as the former Passion Café. Unlike Passion Café, Dottie's drew a huge crowd from moment one, and had no trouble filling every seat in the house by 12:30, even though it's a weekday. more ›

Gay Brunch On Satuday Promises Networking, Lots of Booze

Are you a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered (or even, if softball has taught us anything this week, straight) and in need of a new job? a few choice contacts? a boozy brunch? Well then, head over to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on Saturday morning for an other installment of dot429's brunch series that brings Bay Area professionals together to network in a setting that doesn't involve a room at Beck's Motorlodge or that cozy bathroom at Aunt Charlie's Lounge. more ›

Meet Other Professional LGBT Types At Sunday Brunch, 1/10

Tired of trying to network with other homosexual types at, say, the Bar On Church when it's packed wall-to-wall with tweaked Lady Gaga fans? Can't get a word in between fistfights at the Lexington? Will no one listen to your deft business proposal in the backroom of the Powerhouse because they're too busy sexually assaulting you? Well then, head over to a brunch for dot429, billed as a "social network for LGBT professionals." more ›

East Bay Eats: The Vegan Macrobiotic Experience

East Bay Eats: The Vegan Macrobiotic Experience

Many many years ago, when we were young and just beginning our journey into the land of holistic healing modalities, our massage therapist exhorted us to dine at the Macrobiotic Center and Organic Café on 40th Street, between Adeline and Market. We liked the food so much, or at least the idea of the food as a pathway to greater health, that we got a job there as a cashier for the Sunday Brunch shift, for a year, just to get the employee discount. more ›

Your Sunny Weekend: Thai Brunch in Berkeley (Yet Another Reason to Visit the East Bay)

Your Sunny Weekend: Thai Brunch in Berkeley (Yet Another Reason to Visit the East Bay)

If it’s as beautiful and warm as everyone says it will be this Sunday, then we’re headed to the Thai Buddhist Temple in Berkeley for the Sunday brunch. We haven’t been in awhile, and we’ve been craving that Mango Sticky Rice. Brunch in general is not usually our thing -- the long wait to get seated for an over-priced generic egg scramble usually makes our tender hangovers worse and not better. But the brunch at Wat Mongkolratanaram in Berkeley does not disappoint. It’s a weekly fundraiser for the temple. For around $5, you can get a tasty and pretty authentic Thai meal, including their delicious mango sticky rice for dessert. more ›

Harry Denton and Donna Sachet's Drag Brunch

Harry Denton and Donna Sachet's Drag Brunch

Yesterday's Sunday's A Drag ($30+) brunch at Harry Denton's Starlight Room mainly filled us with cheer, laughter, and decent food and drink. Brunch with entertainment, emceed by Donna Sachet (pictured above)? Sign us up! Female impersonators/drag queens make us feel interested, excited, and curious. They are sometimes so sexy, we wonder how they pull it off. We usually smile a lot after seeing and interacting with them. more ›
