In Friday's Chronicle, the paper's editorial page editor, John Diaz, writes that he recently discovered that he was placed on the Government's "Watch List." Which makes sense, we guess, because Diaz is Arabic for "not even close to sounding Arabic." In the piece, Diaz says that when he tried to print out his advance tickets at the airport, he was instead told to go to the counter. There, he was told the reason for all this was because he was on double secret probation...

Well, how nice! As we were diligently reading the weeklies on BART for tomorrow's post, we just happened to come upon (read: immediately turned to) the results for Best Local Blog: Reader's Poll (page 46 for you print fans), already writing the "We get beaten by DailyKos -- AGAIN" sentence in our mind. Last week's winner, the "locally owned and operated since 1966" Bay Guardian. The Guardian buys out a full-page ad in its own newspaper about the SF Weekly! We love the CLEAR CHANNEL = BUSH, CLEAR CHANNEL = SF WEEKLY thing. The transitive property rules. Everyone's favorite topic, community-choice aggregation of public power.
