One blogger out there says the new logo has "a little Japanimation thrown in." Besides making the shark meaner, the people responsible say the logo will give it more of a 3D effect. Maybe they can hand out 3D glasses before games to really go for the look? There will also be a new "Shark Shield" logo as well as a fin logo that looks like a shark lurking around in the water, maybe to go after another kayaker. Shark fans appear to be mixed.

New unis should be on the horizon too but won't be unveiled until September. If you want to get a sneak peak, you can check it out here. Do orange and dark teal really go together?

We're not big fans of new uniforms and new logos as we always think that if something ain't broke, don't fix it and the old Sharks unis were pretty cool. We're also not so into this whole thing as we're big believers in simplicity and tradition. The coolest uniforms are always the simple, old-fashioned ones. Especially in hockey. What are some of the most iconic uniforms in hockey? The Maple Leafs, Canadians, and Blackhawks-- you know, old time hockey uniforms. Like what Eddie Shore, Dit Clapper, & Toe Blake wore.

Besides, these things always come off more like money grabs than aesthetic decisions.

Welcome to the Front Row: The Warriors Season Preview

For perennial doormats like the Chicago Blackhawks, snakebit franchises like the Arizona Cardinals, and irrelevant standings stuffers like the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, hope springs eternal in the preseas...

SF News

Adonal Foyle

Arizona

arizona cardinals

Baron Davis

Blackhawks

Cardinals

chicago

Chicago Blackhawks

Devil Rays

drugs

east bay

Jason Richardson

NBA

News+Sports

SFist Chris

Bay Area Sports

Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay Devil Rays

Warriors

Jon

So it is, yet again, with this year's East Bay ballers. For about the fifth year in a row, the Warriors' marketing department is trying to hype us on the upcoming season as one of promise and playoffs. To quote Jim Mora, "Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs. Are you kidding me? Playoffs?"

This year's predictable hype coupled with last's year typical late-season glimpse of mediocrity have increased Warriors season ticket sales more than any other NBA team (+3,000 this year over last), and some Warriors fans are already starting to lose their heads. It's one thing to hope that Baron Davis and Jason Richardson can help the Warriors lurch toward .500, but anyone who thinks that Adonal Foyle is going to step up and suddenly become an inside presence needs to just let go and back away from the drugs for a couple of months.

There a chance this team could be entertaining, if not decent, but decent is a long way from good, let alone the playoffs. After so many years, of baaaaad teams, Warriors fans have Dubya'ed down their expectations so far that they are willing to shell out NBA coin in hopes of seeing just a watchable team, which, sadly, would be a major upgrade over the last 11 playoff-barren seasons in the NBA wilderness.
