But now the rest of the lineup has been revealed ahead of the Friday presale date, though there's a "loyalty presale" that starts tomorrow (1/11) for purchasers of 2022 passes — and likely because of people who previously purchased passes for one of the last two canceled Coachellas and rolled them over, the organizers say that already "very limited Weekend 1 passes remain."

Bad Bunny will headline Friday, Blackpink headlines Saturday, and Ocean will headline on Sunday of the two weekends, which are April 14-16 and 21-23. Other notable acts include Björk — who headlined Coachella in 2002 and 2007 — Christine and the Queens, Rosalía, Gorillaz, Charli XCX, the Breeders, Chromeo, Underworld, Noname, Soul Glo, Yaeji, Willow, Saba, Romy (of the xx), Muna, Metro Boomin, Idris Elba, and Kali Uchis.

Calvin Harris is listed as "returning to the desert" but it looks like they may not have gotten a commitment from him for specific dates.

And, 80s greats and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Blondie will be playing in the Friday lineup as well.

Below is the full roster as well as the poster, and remember to use the same email you used in previous purchases if you're trying for the loyalty presale on Wednesday.

Full alphabetical roster:

A Boogie Wit da Hoodie

Adam Beyer

AG Club

Airrica

Alex G

Ali Sethi

Angèle

Ashnikko

Bad Bunny

Bakar

Becky G

Benee

Big Wild

Björk

Blackpink

The Blaze

Blondie

Boris Brejcha

Boygenius

Bratty

The Breeders

Burna Boy

Calvin Harris

Camelphat

Cannons

Cassian

Charli XCX

The Chemical Brothers

Chloé Caillet

Chris Stussy

Christine and the Queens

Chromeo

Colyn

The Comet Is Coming

Conexión Divina

DannyLux

Dennis Cruz + Pawsa

Despacio

Destroy Boys

Diljit Dosanjh

Dinner Party ft. But Bjork is back, baby! Or at least, she will be in February, as San Francisco and Los Angeles are the only U.S. cities to which she will bring her Cornucopia tour in early 2022, a theatrical reworking of her 2017 album Utopia, which has only ever been performed in eight shows back in 2019 before COVID-19 cut the world tour plans short.

Bjork’s two San Francisco performances will be Saturday, February 5, and Tuesday, February 8 at the Chase Center. Bjork “explains” the concept in the tweet below.

more info: https://t.co/vek3s50Fe2 pic.twitter.com/1faAA6RMR8
— björk (@bjork) October 7, 2021

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, October 13.

To the degree to which we can explain a Bjork concept performance, it is likely to be along the lines of the video above of one the show’s tracks. The show is directed by Argentinian film director Lucrecia Martel, with costumes by French designer Olivier Rousteing and Dutch designer Iris van Herpen. The 2019 performance also opened with 20 minutes of Icelandic folk songs performed by a choir, her backup band was a seven-piece flute ensemble with a harp and percussion, and the encore was preceded by a projected speech from youngster climate activist Greta Thunberg. There are apparently a lot of visual projections.

Omg I forgot to post the best photo from the drag show the other night in Reykjavik! The magazine added that the show included “featured a spectacular surround-sound installation, a 52-member Icelandic choir that at one point swarmed through the audience, other-worldly costuming, and vivid staging, including a bounty of jaw-dropping, lushly layered video projections. If the show ever makes it to Denver, where psilocybin mushrooms were just decriminalized, its swirling phantasmagoria would surely find a receptive audience.”

If you’re a Bjorkaholic and just can’t wait until February, she’s also performing a series of livestreams starting Monday and continuing sporadically over the next month.

Related: Chase Center Gets New Dessert Bar From Chef Behind Viral Steph Curry Cake [SFist]

Image: Marcwncs via Wikimedia Commons

Björk Bringing Biophilia to Craneway Pavilion This Month

This post is brought to you by our advertiser, Live Nation.

Arts & Entertainment

Bjork

craneway

sponsored post

Sponsor

<img src="https://img.sfist.com/assets_c/2013/05/bjork_Craneway_quotes_640x426 (1)-thumb-640xauto-790062.jpg" alt="Björk Bringing Biophilia to Craneway Pavilion This Month">
This post is brought to you by our advertiser, Live Nation.

Björk is bringing her live Biophilia shows to the Bay Area at the Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, where the venue has been set to her original Biophilia specifications as an intimate, in-the-round setting. The three local performances are on May 22nd, 25th and 28th. Tickets are available for the 22nd and 28th, but the May 25th show is sold out. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 1-800-745-3000. <img alt="Björk Bringing Biophilia to Craneway Pavilion This Month" src="http://gothamistllc.com/ads/tracker.php?url=http://img.sfist.com/attachments/juliamtuohy/trackingdot.jpg&image_id=Bjork_SF_SP" width="1" height="1" class="image-none">

The concerts are in collaboration with the Exploratorium, the world's foremost hands-on museum of science, art and human phenomena, now located at Pier 15 along the Embarcadero in San Francisco. Using the Biophilia App Suite as a focus point, Exploratorium scientists and educators will align a project to each of the 10 songs included, creating a workshop series that engages students both in music and science with creativity, exploration and discovery.

Featuring a set of unique musical instruments including a MIDI-controlled pipe organ and twin musical Tesla coils, KEXP hailed the performance as “enchanting and unforgettable…in the live setting, Björk and her Biophilia ecosystem pulsated, blossomed and flourished.” The show also features an award-winning 24-piece Icelandic female choir and visuals from the Biophilia apps.

It doesn't seem as strong of a line-up compared to last year's line-up: Arcade Fire, Andrew Bird, The Decemberists, Amy Winehouse and of course, Bjork. (And we only named a few.) Is it as exciting? We're thinking, no. But, we were excited to see two local bands come up on the list: Rogue Wave and dredg.

Rogue Wave, an indie-rock band from Oakland, are performing on the first day of the festival, Friday, April 25th. They recently released their third album, "Asleep at Heaven's Gate" on Brushfire Records. (Their first two records were released on Subpop Records.) Zack Rogue, the lead singer and founder of the band, has been featured at Noise Pop 2006 where SFist Emily thought the male-pattern baldness seemed to plague half of the band members. (That sucks.) This doesn't deter these guys from rocking out.

Dredg (officially named "dredg" with a lower-case d) are originally from Los Gatos and have been together since 1996. They officially just came out of hibernation last fall with a performance at Great American Music Hall. (Did anyone go?) It looks like they will have some new music for Coachella.

What gives? And how do we choose? Since we live in the bay area, perhaps our decision has been made for us: we're heading to the inaugural Treasure Island Music Festival presented by the fine folks at Noise Pop and Another Planet. The two day festival features 14 bands each day on two stages with mostly hip hop and electronica on Saturday (Theivery Corporation, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, M.I.A.) and a great lineup of indie rock on Sunday (Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, Clap Your Hands). And it all takes place on Treasure Island, that scrap of land you've seen a thousand times but likely have never set foot on. Getting there is sure to be an adventure! Check out the full lineup and get your tickets. We've got a pair of tickets for one lucky winner to go to one day of the Treasure Island Music Festival. (We're not sure which date yet but will update this post as soon as we hear back from our contact! But both days are really good so you can't go wrong. Contest ends 8/22; winner will be notified via email.)<?php @include "http://www.gothamistllc.com/contest/contestcode.php?id=262&source=$PHP_SELF&status=$status"; ?>

So back to our rant: during that same weekend, the three-day Austin City Limits Music Festival is happening in Austin with a lineup that includes Bob Dylan, Bjork, The White Stripes and Arcade Fire. And just this morning we read about the Monolith Festival at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver, Colorado, that also boasts a great lineup including The Flaming Lips, The Decemberists, and some smaller bands we'd love to see like Forget Cassettes. One of our favorite bands of all time, Spoon, has the right idea: they're somehow managing to play all three festivals. Normally we'd be a little worried about the band being jetlagged by the time they headline for us that Sunday night, but these guys are professionals. They'll deliver.

On to this week's show recommendations. Start tonight early by heading to the Burn My Eyes 2 Rock Poster Show at 12 Galaxies featuring twelve rock poster artists exhibiting and selling their work. Later on Popscene presents Junior Senior and Switches at 330 Ritch. On Friday, KPIG presents the legend himself Alejandro Escovedo at Great American with opener Sonny Smith. The Go, bellavista and White Savage are at Bottom of the Hill and over at Slim's you can see Detroit Cobras with Dan Sartain and The Willowz. On Saturday, Birdmonster pack Cafe Du Nord with Eulogies and DJ Ted from BAGeL Radio.

We would've gotten this up sooner, but we've been busy playing nursemaid all week!

We parked in the hay last Saturday evening and were told by one of Shoreline Amphitheater's parking attendants, "Watch out for that big hole. We're right on the fault line!" Then, after walking for what seemed like a mile, we were finally able to hear the faint strumming of Joanna Newsom's harp and her signature, endearingly quivering voice. It had probably been ten years since we had last been to an amphitheater, and we realized upon entering the event that they all look the same, for the most part.

We had unfortunately missed Ghostdigital, the first opener of the night (we admit it, we had to stop at In 'N' Out on the way down), but were lucky enough to catch several songs of Joanna Newsom's set. It was exciting to see her at such a huge venue. Her presence and performance filled the whole space, and her impressively long legs filled the whole length of the giant screens. We could see in huge detail the various expressions of intense concentration on her face as she plucked her harp. We were all so very proud.

Then, Bjork came on and further blew off the proverbial roof (made of flags). Her costumes were sufficiently strange and elaborate and her performance spot-on, backed up by an awesome horn section, vibraphone, and a crazy midi-sampler that almost looked mystical. Engulfed in color, lights, and love, all of us on the lawn could feel the vibe through the grass and the airwaves. (We're sure those closer to the stage had an even better time.) It was a gorgeous night to boot, with a sliver of a moon — as Bjork pointed out.

We were equally impressed when we later checked out the amount of content on Bjork's site. Fans are encouraged to post reviews and photos of her shows, and Bjork is currently having a contest in which "Madwebcarpenters" can create a video for her "Innocence" track. The song can be heard on her MySpace page, and the contest runs through the beginning of August. So, get to it!

SFist Tonight

This weekend is gonna be ginormous, with Bay to Breakers, the Maker Faire, the Princ...

Arts & Entertainment

art

Bjork

City

dance

De Young

dj

Fat City

Folsom St

Golden Gate

golden gate park

Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive

Indie

maker faire

mission street

MySpace

Prince

sf

Studio Z

The Roots

The Sea

tonight

Vivienne Westwood

Jenna

This weekend is gonna be ginormous, with Bay to Breakers, the Maker Faire, the Prince and Bjork shows - so dive right on in with tonight's top picks:

This is their second year in a new location at Mission between 9th and 10th. We might’ve missed the modest front, except for the large artsy crowd milling out front (trying to squeeze in off the long wait list).

Since we were nursing the remnants of both a hangover and a sunburn, we were a little weary about attending anything on a Sunday night. As a result, we showed up at CounterPULSE with our cynical-cranky pants decidedly on.

But oh how those cranky pants came off! Just one amazing performance into the Anniversary Show, we forgot our Sunday evening complaints – and were left wondering why we hadn't gone to anything at CounterPULSE sooner. Three words: anti-war trapeze artists.

Icelandic dignitaries will be present, and staff will be available for simultaneous translation of all English introductions for ease of comprehension. Plus, Icelandic musician Mugison is playing two shows, one on Thursday and one on Saturday.

The movies include , a documentary about the Miss Iceland pageant that was banned due to protests by the pageant owners, the 2003 Film of the Year, Black Sea, about a fishing family's crisis (and featuring "acidic accusations, exposed secrets, and forbidden sexual encounters" -- awright!), a number of movies about the Icelandic music scene, and Noi Albinoi, a movie involving a teenager trying to escape the Iceland West Fjords: "All that is certain, it seems, is more snow."

All proceeds benefit the after-school writing program at 826 Valencia.
In the Shoes of the Dragon
