Thursday, the SF Symphony opens a two week Prokofiev festival. They even have a fancy title: Russian firebrand, Russian virtuoso: the music of Prokofiev. We think they're trying to say that Prokofiev was Russian. He wrote five Russian piano Russian concertos which will all be performed by four Russian soloists: Yefim Bronfman, Vladimir Feltsman, Ilya Yakushev (he'll do two), and Mikhail Rudy. Tonight, the SF Indiefest anschlüss continues, with a party celebrating the Coen Brothers' The Big Lebowski at Balazo Gallery (2183 Mission at 18th). Costumes encouraged. Hooray! The Board of Supervisors has agreed to allow beer and wine to be served at the Red Vic movie theatre. While a moratorium had been called on new liquor licenses in the Upper Haight, the newly-approved bill is intended to override that in the case of the worker owned and operated single-screen movie theater. The Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi-penned ordinance goes into effect immediately, but the Red Vic still had several hurdles to leap.......
