That's what the Ohio State University and the entire sporting world, with the exception of diehard Gator lovers and their recently embarked bandwagon brethren across the land, are thinking after the University of Florida beat down the OSU 84-75 last night to capture the men's NCAA basketball national championship. It's OSU's second consecutive national championship game defeat to Florida, this year.

If you're thinking it's deja vu all over again, you're right. The Gators came into the championship game as the defending NCAA champs -- and went out the same way. Their hard-fought but decisive victory marked the first back-to-back basketball championships by any Division I men's team since Duke's 1990-1992 run and only the second repeat since the end of the John Wooden era at UCLA more than 30 years ago.

Speed kills. It's an old football saw, but it still cuts right to the heart of the matter in sorting out the detritus of last night's BCS National Championship Game: faster is better.

Even though the Cal Bears romped on Southern Miss, 26-16, Saturday in a makeup game that was rescheduled after Hurrican Ivan delayed the original date, they will not be going to the Rose Bowl. That's right, the Texas Longhorns hooked the at-large bid thanks to gains in the press and coaches polls. Blame the BCS (BC-Mess, Broke-Ass Choosing System, Bears Can't Succeed, Because Coaches Suck, f**king piece of s**t, whatever you wan't to call it), which actually dissed Texas last year. SFist would like to say that the Bears have had a fantastic season and played as gentlemen. You didn't see Jeff Tedford begging for votes on national TV like Texas coach Mack Brown after the Longhorns' game against the Aggies, and when Cal had the ball at the Southern Miss 22-yard line, quarterback Aaron Rodgers took a knee instead of trying to run up the score. We'll cheer for you at the Holiday Bowl against the Horny Toads of Texas Tech.

In the most anticipated game of the season for Bay Area football fans, the Cal Bears manhandled the Stanford Cardinal, 41-6. J.J. Arrington put together yet another 100-yard game, but red-shirt freshman Marshawn Lynch stole the show, running for 122 yards -- including an electrifying 55-yard touchdown run -- and completing a 20-yard pass to for a score. Cal plays their makeup game on December 4th in Mississippi, but are otherwise at the mercy of the BCS ranking system in terms of securing a Rose or Orange Bowl bid -- if you can believe it, they can be knocked out of the BCS by Utah, Texas, Louisville or even Boise St. regardless of how they fare against Southern Miss.
