The hogs at Salesforce.com rented out Pete's Tavern tonight and Thursday. If you're looking to go to the popular sports tavern located just across the street from AT&T Park, you're out of luck. Which is fine with us, because who likes going down several flights of stairs to pee? No us. Oh no. Not by the longest shot. Also, if we may generalize sweepingly for a moment, the place always has one or two female patrons crying during a game. Either their significant others (imbibed with booze and defeated team spirit) just said something cruel, they're not getting enough attention, or both. Regardless, please stop doing this in public, sensitive ones. It makes us emotionally-stunted folks uncomfortable.

Instead, we recommend:

Public House or Mijita at AT&T Park. Both places feature food by Traci Des Jardins, the only stadium with a James Beard Award-winning chef!

Zeke's (600 3rd Street, between Brannan & Townsend) is located on Third Street, perfect for jumping out into the street once the Giants win. (Fingers crossed.) They also have lots of TVs, so you have a good view of the action no matter where you sit or stand. (Seating is VERY limited.)

Halloween Bash Moves to SOMA

As we mentioned last March, Halloween in the Castro as you knew it has been canceled. Boo. The City's official Halloween celebration will instead move to SOMA in the parking lot of AT&T Park. It seems this year's bash will "include an early evening, free gathering for kids and a more adult-friendly, paid event later in the evening, which will feature local musicians and artists." The Entertainment Commission, sigh, is also looking to put on a party at Pier 39. How the city will pay for the event marketing, whether or not booze will be sold, and if gang rapes will see an all-time high on Stillman Street is still up in the air. But we do know that the Castro will probably end the being the place to be again come 10/31.
