Chenery House owner, colorful San Francisco ad man, and entrepreneur Bob Pritikin bought Hitler's globe this week for a cool $100,000. The globe, snatched fom Hitler's desk in the ruins of his Eagle's Nest retreat, was found by WWII U.S. soldier John Barsamian and put up for auction this week in San Francisco. Now, before you go labeling Pritiklin an anti-Semite, this man is character -- a true collector and unique hoarder. His home......

Remember how years ago, everyone was running around yelling "Free Tibet?" Well, Africa is the Tibet and has been for a while. There's Darfur and the rush of Hollywood celebrities stealing babies and whatever Bono is prattling about but there's also a need for help in the Congo. To help the Congo, local Executive Coach and Keynote Speaker Fran Zone (that's what the bio says) is having World of Good Holiday Auction. It's online and ends Thursday, November 30th. ...

Last night we featured the cross bay rivalry of Taste events, and tonight, we've got two art auctions. When we see things like this, we wonder whether the organizers of said events check each others' calendars, as we have learned through painful experience that we can't be everywhere at once. Perhaps an evite is called for in these circumstances. First, in the East Bay, The Oakland Art Gallery's DRAWN, a fundraiser sale and art......

Special make-up day edition. Lots of tech to get out of the way. Peter Merholtz criticizes the tone of Google's "Golden Rules" for managing knowledge workers. Yahoo, meanwhile, goes and buys del.icio.us, which means Yahoo 360 will now be able to integrate three of our favorite tools in one place. And apparently Mena Trott got in quite the snit with Ben Metcalfe at Les Blogs in Paris -- coverage from Eric Rice, Chris Heuer......

Well, okay, let's be honest - it isn't just the Cares department here that loves the boozin'. We're not really snooty but we know what we like and we like good wine so we're saving our pennies to be able to go to the San Francisco Wine Auction on April 29th. Tickets are $250, so if anyone is thinking that they'd like to get SFist a really early Christmas present we could probably find......
