We were running in the Presidio this morning, and after a few cars nearly creamed us it struck us that one of San Francisco's preeminent outdoor plagrounds is a very dangerous place in which to play outside. Bike lanes appear and disappear randomly, and when they're doing maintenance and logging on the Coastal Trail (like today), runners and walkers coming from Arguello are forced to Washington Street, praying that cars don't splatter them on the many blind curves.
Presidio: Still Dangerous
Newsom Pile-On (Post 2 of 2)
Newsom's beleaguered this week! So beleaguered we broke it down into two posts!
Reward Offered In Hit and Run Case
A $20,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the hit-and-run driver who caused the death of Presidio jogger Ashlyn Dyer.
SFist Blotter
Ashlyn Dyer, the morning jogger struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Presidio on March 2, was taken off life support over the weekend. Doctors say that if Dyer had received immediate help after the accident, she might have pulled through. Authorities speculate that the driver might have been blinded by the morning sun. Dyer was found in a ditch on the side of the road. She had no ID on her but rescuers were finally able to identify her from her iPod. Her family has started a fund for neurological research in her name. Our thoughts go out to Dyer's friends and family.
