Yesterday's near perfect weather is now but a sepia-toned memory. Reports of a strange, icy substance, often referred to as "snow," is falling on Mount Diablo, Mount Hamilton in Santa Clara County, Mount Hamilton, and (any minute now) Mount Tam. It's also blanketing the eerie Santa Cruz Mountains, resulting in the closure of Highway 9. It looks like many of you will have to take Highway 17. If you dare. Oh, and be sure......

Tiger attack victim, 17-year-old Carlos Sousa Jr., was mourned last night at the Five Wounds Portuguese National Church in San Jose by hundreds of loved ones. His altar was decorated with a flowers, including Raiders logo. It seems Sousa was an Oakland Raiders fan, reportedly wearing a Marcus Allen Raiders jersey the day he was killed at SF Zoo. According to the Gate, some of Carlos' "friends showed up at the funeral wearing 'In......

The man accused of assaulting and kidnapping Elie Wiesel -- attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, battery, stalking, elder abuse and hate crimes, to be exact -- changed his not guilty plea to one of insanity today. Earlier this year, if you recall, Eric Hunt, 23, stalked and dragged the Nobel Prize winner and Holocaust survivor from an elevator at the Argent Hotel (recently re-branded Westin San Francisco Market Street, even though it's totally located on......

Oh, this is so mean. And yet so funny. The guy who purchased Bond's 756th home run ball, Marc Ecko (a fashion designer, so girl doesn't really need a baseball), set up a site to poll people as to what to do with it, and the decision? To brand it with an asterisk, because of Bonds performance-enhancing drugs scandal, and send to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ecko said that the marking of the......

We duped ourselves into thinking iPhones weren't the work of God. But they are. And we want one. Bad. Real bad. Last week, we had the privilege of hanging with a few adorable, young lads, all on the cusp of innovative technology. And they all sported iPhones, thus an at-one-with-the-world glaze in their eyes. We have a stupid BlackBerry, so: constipation, tears. Steve Jobs -- who still boasts a decent shelf butt (see image)......

-- Bridge? Closed. (They're gone! Quick, put away the bongs, and bust out the vodka, straws, and mirrors!) [Examiner] -- Near, far, wherever you are, free Wi-Fi must go on. [eWEEK] -- Two bodies found in Ingleside Heights. [Chron] -- Also, four other attacks in SF. How lovely. [SFist] -- While out jogging, Ross Mirkarimi helps apprehend two Western Addition drive-by suspects. Oh, Ross, you's so strong! [Chron] -- Good to the last drop,......

Today was the annual blessing day for taxis and taxi drivers across SF. (Wait, magic water on Yellow Cab? No! Yellow Cab should burn in the hell!) "Twenty-six drivers" have died on the job since 1947, which is, like, totally sad, but we love the Examiner's dismissive tone about said statisitc, saying "[t]hat's just over one death every two years." A mere drop in the bucket, really. (Hey, come write for SFist, anonymous Examiner......

We apologize for being so late to this story. It's funny -- it's been out there in the national press, but except for one brief mention in the Chronicle, and an even briefer mention in the Examiner, please excuse us if we hadn't heard about it. The third ship in the American Navy to carry the name San Francisco, a Los Angeles-class nuclear submarine, ran aground and breached it's hull on January 8th, 350 nautical......
