Earlier this month, we brought your attention to local ad agency Palmer Advertising's Craigslist ad. The advertisement seeking a print/web designer caused a stir since it mentioned that, however humorously intended, those diagnosed with bipolar disorder need not apply. It specifically stated, "The successful candidate will have ... Sanity. If you are a prima donna, bipolar, or require anger management, please go to a big agency where you can hide in the crowd."
'No Bipolars' Ad Agency Makes Stunning Turnaround In Job Ad Controversy
San Francisco Ad Agency Won't Hire Bipolars
A friendly reminder that, according to ADA laws, discriminating against a candidate or employee based on their mental health is illegal. Which is why, however tongue-in-cheek, San Francisco-based ad agency Palmer Advertising's Craigslist ad for a designer is cause for concern. In part of their requirements for the open Print & Web Designer gig, they note: "The successful candidate will have ... Sanity. If you are a prima donna, bipolar, or require anger management, please go to a big agency where you can hide in the crowd."
Attack Ad: Christmas-Loving Rick Perry Ashamed Of U.S. Military
Speaking of sanity-estranged, plummeting GOP candidate Rick Perry released an anti-gay television ad today, one that lambastes our country's military while claiming that our children cannot celebrate Christmas in school (which is a lie, a balls out fib) or pray in the classroom (which is true, thank god). Perry spews:
Barrage of Game-Promotion Ballons and Fliers Pollute San Francisco [UPDATES]
Why were there so many red balloons floating around downtown San Francisco today? Well, someone thought it would be a great (albeit pollutive and thoughtless) way to hawk a new video game. We think @sanbrunamo sums it up best: "please don't pollute our bay and environment with ads attached to balloons. [link] [link]"
Best Campaign Poster of the Election Season
As The Tenderloin Geographic Society dutifully points out, "Playing the puppy card, [Dean] Clark cinches the eight-year-old vote and refuses to kowtow to the Cat Fancy constituency."

charged with aiding and abetting prostitution." Which will never, ever happen.
Anti-Gay Ad Auditions Uncovered
Sure, it's preposterous. Amazing in its unbelievability. But the National Organization for Marriage (a truly vile organization) is something to take notice of, because people believe this shit -- powerful people; people you know; people you like; people you love; people who, let's face it, should be stopped. And the above ad, while riddled with inaccuracy, is the latest attack on civil rights and same-sex marriage. (In related news, you can find an updated map showing who donated to Prop 8, right here.)

Princess Gloves Come off in No On 8 Fight
A few days ago, there was a new ad released by the people backing Prop 8 (the ballot amendment that would allow an out-of-state group to veto whatever California marriages they want). The ad condemned gay marriage and featured "Professor" Richard Peterson (pictured at right) making a number of demonstrably false suggestions. You can watch the ad here -- don't forget to rate! Thankfully, the lawyers for No On 8 have struck back with a STRONGLY WORDED LETTER to TV station owners.
SFist Watches: The Superbowl Ads
We found it difficult to tear ourselves away from the "Puppy Bowl" and turn the channel to the Superbowl, but since we were going to skip through all that boring game stuff and just watch the commercials, we figured it wouldn't be too painful. Keep in mind, though, that since we've got TiVo, this is about the only time during the year we actually do watch commercials. Because of that we might not be able to tell whether these Superbowl ads were actually any better or worse than what's on TV on a nightly basis. But we'll still feel free to criticize nonetheless.
