Wish you went to last night's Prop. 8 protest instead of watching Dancing with the Stars? Well, you get another chance. Tomorrow there will be an even bigger protest (Friday) against Prop 8. The march will start at Civic Center at 5:30 p.m., ending in Dolores Park. (Interesting that it's not ending at an LDS temple. That seems to be what's going on in LA today.) It will be going down Market from Seventh,... [continue]
This has to be the most adorable image we've seen thus far during today's queer marriage melee. Really, how can you hate these people? Oh, you think you have cuter, do you? Well, send it to us here.... [continue]
Congratulations to SFist Editor Brock Keeling for winning the Best Blogger title in SFWeekly's annual Best Of edition! It of course comes as no surprise to us that Brock is being honored along with the likes of Best Iconic Bay Area Newscaster Dennis Richmond and Best Mansion, Spreckels Mansion! Since its launch in 2004, SFist (part of the Gothamist family of blogs) has become a reliably eccentric source for local news and gossip. And,... [continue]
Frank Chu, 48, the Bay Ara;s favoritest pathological resident, has a Wikipedia page, naturally. It goes into much detail about his media whoring, numerous protest signs, and "performance art." It also mentions the following (and, of course, alleged) Chu-helmed hostage crisis: In early 1985, Chu, then 24 years old, took 11 members of his family hostage in his home in Oakland and was reported to have been beating some with his fists. Chu fired... [continue]

Found at 18th and Castro, this autobiographical poster tells the tale of someone whop would like to stop smoking. And you can help! See, he would like to you top purchase him Walgreens gift cards (in any amount!) in order for him to purchase nicotine patches. Way to go, stranger. And good luck with that.... [continue]
WhatImSeeing's Plug1--who Mayor Newsom apparently just looooves--sent us this today. He snapped it up at SFO this afternoon. We suspect it's the head of one of those bears. Clever.... [continue]
SFist intercepted this email sent out today by SFPD Park Station Captain Teri Barrett. Teri, it seems, has an estranged relationship with the merriment for which San Francisco is/used to be famous. Leisure World we are not. Check it: Teresa Barrett/SFPD/SFGO To: Park Station SFPD/SFPD/SFGOV@SFGOV [Date:] 05/20/08 [Time:] 11:21 Subject: Bay to Breakers 2008 I am trying to document how out of control the Bay to Breakers was this year. Drunks everywhere, people urinating... [continue]
By Joe Kukura Our Bay to Breakers coverage – which kicked off this morning in a post so drunk and confused it had to be deleted – continues without shame as we direct you to this handy Bay to Breakers Liquor Store Locator. Many of you know how long sections of this race course are painfully lacking in places to buy additional smokes and booze for your continued "running." But with knowledge of a... [continue]
Heads have been exploding throughout California ever since this morning's delightful news about same-sex marriage was announced. City Attorney Dennis Herrera, in particular, is beaming--at least according to a press released sent out an hour after the ruling was announced. "I am profoundly grateful, not only for a decision that will end marriage discrimination for gay and lesbian partners in California, but for the Court's eloquence in stating its conclusion," said Herrera. "Our democratic... [continue]
According to ABC 7--who just mercifully brought The View to a screeching halt to inform viewers--the California State Supreme Court struck down the gay marriage ban. So: same-sex marriage is now legal, at least according to the California Supreme Court. ... [continue]

It seemed like such a great idea prior to last season – take the best free agent leftie out there, and sign him to the biggest contract ever for a pitcher ("TWO Barrys! What could possibly go wrong?"). ... [continue]
