Photo by Jennifer Maiser, KQED There are (same sex) wedding bells with yummy eats at Hedonia, here, here! Buy fresh, buy local in the "eat local" month of October: the challenge with helpful answers to any questions, is on.... [continue]

Let's eat, and drink, after the wait. There is great food (cheese, bread, Indian food, cured meats, fish, pizza, honey, ice cream, wild rice cake, bison chili, chocolate, cupcakes) and adult beverages (absinthe, beer, wine, Fog Cutters!) to enjoy at the Slow Food Nation Taste Pavilions and Green Kitchen at Fort Mason this weekend. The visually appealing displays of bread, jars, honey, fish, cacao, and other plants and foods are for the most part... [continue]

FoodBuzz gets a top gobble worthy mention because it is highly addictive and total fun. "Fantastic foodies" may find some Bay Area fun on the site, but there are links to other parts of the country. Crock pot, in this weather? Yes, yes, and yes.... [continue]

Let's eat. New York Times: "Woodstock of food" Slow Food events hitting SF soon. (Cute pic of Alice Waters with Mayor Newsom in the print version, btw!) Picco chef Bruce Hill gets top billing in a swirly soft-serve piece. Hill sells nearly 100K(!) in soft-serve a year at his 11 seat Marin pizzeria. SF Chronicle: Killer: Heirloom tomato week will hit SF restos August 14-24. Fruity desserts center on ripe, sometimes roasted fruit. Pasta... [continue]

Did someone say sausage? San Francisco Chronicle: Sausage fest coming soon to a Fourth of July grill near you. "Global flavors" on the handmade sausage marketplace include: lemongrass and curry, lamb with lavender, and habanero peppers. Vote in the comments for your fave grill item, sausage or not. Chocolate milk is soy good, depending on which brand you try. Noe Valley Farmers Market report includes strawberries, pluots, and a variety of cucumbers.... [continue]

What foods adventures have you had lately? Or maybe you have a fave summer dish you keep eating again and again? Do tell! Zoomie Station made fruit salad including nectarines that were "dripping with flavor." Looks good, eh? If that "delicious parade" is not good enough reason to hit the Marin farmer's market, we just can't help you. Yes, fruit pie can be successfully made in small kitchens. Sounds like putting "EVERYTHING in the freezer"... [continue]

You'll need some of these if you plan on dining in Bay Area restaurants. San Francisco Chronicle: It's getting loud in here; Stacy Finz examines the cacophony and clang of fashionable food joints. Squash it: beautiful and tasty "flor de cabaza" (squash blossoms) take center plate. Stuffing or deep frying is the way to go with these treasures.... [continue]

Can we have some, too? Bake it, make it; The Chocolate Gourmand tries his hand at oatmeal raisin cookies. The accompanying photo spread (pic-let above) is easy on the eyes, which means it looks totally tasty. Healthier eats can be had at Chez Pim in the form of cold sesame noodles. Unless you feel like some Pink dawgs or crispy onion rings with Bubble Up, instead.... [continue]

San Francisco-made-of-pots-and-pans, pictured here by The Ethicurean, has never looked so shiny. Check out a thoughtful and interesting take on chile peppers at All the Marmalade. A hot discussion worth taking in, for sure. Eatsdropper time at Hedonia! These funny overheard food and bev related comments are always amusing. Squeal-worthy: when packing popcorn is made of the real thing. Bay Area Bites has the scoop. PB fans can drool over Peanut Butter Boy, from... [continue]

A hilarious "doctored" baked bean memory with recipe from Zoomie Station. Time to shroom with What Did You Eat, manitarokeftedes style. Vinography has a yeasty discussion; commercial yeast versus wild or native yeast. Tasting the difference may be tougher than you think.... [continue]

Take a vacay filled with "unique" food experiences. First stop, China; next stop, France and Italy. Dining fun with recipes, including--ekh! bear paw--courtesy of this week's book recos: Shark's Fin and Sichuan Pepper by Brit writer Fuchsia Dunlop and The Saucier's Apprentice by Bob "Mr. Beatle's Book" Spitz. Now, on to the food sections. San Francisco Chronicle: The story of Super Chef Michael Mina's ascent, with an intriguing seafood bake recipe. Sweet potatoes and orange... [continue]

Looking for "the perfect pantry"? Get your Salt-nPepas (here!, and we're in effect!) at All the Marmalade, as pictured oh so prettily, here. Our latest fave blog is Greg's World on a Plate. He's a Marin based chef who has great pics and interesting write ups. In other local food news, Bunrab braved the Chocolate Salon, which is massively popular (read: very, very crowded). Exotic (tea, lemongrass, chile, etc.) flavors and chocolate samples abound.... [continue]

Chocolate alert! Don't forget to hit the Chocolate Salon at Fort Mason this Sunday. Here are today's highlights from local food sections: San Francisco Chronicle: Have a spring (food) fling! Macerated, boozy strawberries with meringue sounds easy and intriguing. The butter braised carrots, peas & favas are appealing, too. Passover prepared nibbles are available at many locations. Palmetto Restaurant on Union Street couldn't even make it for one year, and is closing due to... [continue]

Knowing that, along with the fact that Single Awareness/Valentine's Day beckons soon, we have a stellar line up of tasty chocolate events to get you in the mood. You know, it's totally okay to buy sweets for yourself -- we do it all the time. Think of it... [continue]

The food section round up is back. We gobble the various food sections up each Wednesday. But first: ready to "dine and go to heaven" in San Francisco? We are! Dine About Town is here, and prix fixe dining heaven costs $21.95 for lunch and $31.95 for dinner. Participating restaurants include: A16, B44, Cafe de la Presse, La Provence and others. This heaven won't qualify as a cheap eat, but it's presumably cheaper than what... [continue]

We knew we'd rope you in with the use of the word porn! "I didn't know there are so many chocolate places," our husband said as we collectively eyed The Chocolate Guide Western Edition, billed by some as "chocolate porn". Learning can be sooo much fun. This guide easily earns a spot on our lifestyle and travel bookshelves because it covers chocolate based info that Lonely Planet, Zagat, Rick Steves, and other guides miss.... [continue]

Berrylicious illustration from The Oakland Tribune. We gobble the various food sections up each Wednesday. Here are our favorite nibbles from today's offerings. SF Chronicle: Serious bock-bock time for those of you who may not give chickens their due. Our fave chicken recipes here and here. Many chefs feel local and smaller sized pollo may add up to a better tasting bird. Oh, and at one of the Mission's best spots, when the chicken's... [continue]
