Reader Bob Loblaw sends us yet another rant about Muni in the mail bag and this one details another thing about Muni that annoys everyone to no end. And remember folks, if you have questions or comments or need to do some kvetching, send those cards and letters over to us.
Never mind the fact that the J has the worst on time percentage, I had a hilarious MUNI moment on Monday the 23rd. I normally catch the J at about 7am every morning at 22nd and Church, and as per usual, it was running late on Monday. At about 7:15 my fellow cadre of MUNI captives and I had been waiting for about 20+ minutes for a J when we all turned our heads and let out a collective sigh of disdain as we saw a bus, not LRV, heading towards our stop. We all figured that MUNI must be broken yet again and the bus was a temporary fix to get us to the Market street station. I figured it would basically follow the route of the J, picking up the rest of the stragglers along the way. I was wrong, I watched the driver pass up, and or ignore
confused MUNI riders stranded at stops along the way to Market. Those who were bold enough to run towards the bus were let on, the rest were left to languish and curse MUNI even more. Most notably of the left behind was the guy with the cane at the Dolores park stop, who started slowly heading towards the bus, but was left in the dust as the bus pulled away. Also left standing and cu rsing were the people on 18th and Church. The driver offered no explanation or ideas as to where the bus was heading. I think it was labeled an ‘E’ bus. MUNI is a joke and an embarrassment.

Sadly, our Muni driver is no longer with us, but that doesn't mean the questions won't keep coming. Reader RK sent us this last week and his completely frustrating experience is something we've all been through. And just why do they sometimes stop trains in the middle of the run anyways? And why can't drivers at least tell everyone why?
But we digress.
Dear Mr. Ford:
Is there someone up there who knows what they are doing, or is Muni run by the headless horseman? Does Mr. Ford read these comments?
Here is yesterday evening's story:
Thursday, 4/19/07 6 P.M. K Ingleside outbound. Waited 15 minutes for any outbound streetcar at Forest Hill, finally a K arrived. But at St. Francis Circle, the operator said he had to go inbound, and he said that another K was just behind. 20 people got off in the rain, including some very senior citizens, couldn't all fit under the small shelter (it would have been better to get off at West Portal). After a 15 minute wait, someone called Muni and was told that it would be another 10 minute wait. My wife walked home -- Junipero Serra to Ocean Avenue, saw a total of five inbound K's but no outbound K's over a one-half hour time period.
I mean, really, do they know where their million dollar trains are?
