Two people were found shot to death in a parked car in Dolores Heights Saturday morning, and the crime is roiling the usually quiet, tony neighborhood where such crimes don't typically occur. The victims were found around 9:30 a.m. Saturday after a passerby called SFPD for a well-being check after observing the suspicious vehicle near the intersection of 21st Street and Rayburn, as KRON 4 reports. Responding officers discovered a man and a woman both suffering from gunshot wounds, and both died at the scene.

The Chronicle reports that one neighbor says she heard muffled gunshots between 9 and 10 a.m., suggesting the crime happened shortly before the victims were found. Also, a gun was recovered from the scene, and police found a child's car seat in the backseat of the car, though no child was present and it's unclear whether there is a child connected to the deceased pair.

Police have not released details on the vehicle where the victims were found, but the Chronicle reports on a silver Saturn Ion being towed from the scene Saturday afternoon.

SFPD spokesperson Officer Robert Rueca says that the crime does not appear to be a random act of violence, and officers are seeking surveillance video, if it exists, from neighboring homes. Police at first said they were investigating it as a double homicide, however NBC Bay Area reports that that is no longer the case — so, murder-suicide?

Neighbors are shaken by the strange incident, with one telling the Chronicle that it's especially disturbing after the midday shooting that occurred in nearby Dolores Park on August 3, injuring three people.

Update: The Examiner has a report via the Medical Examiner's office on the identity of the two deceased people. They are Susana Robles Desgarennes, 20, and Angel Raygoza, 24, both of San Francisco.
