Jeffrey's Toys is set to make a return to San Francisco, two years after it closed its shop on Market Street.

Hoodline reports that they're moving into a location at 45 Kearny Street (and Maiden Lane), formerly occupied by the Asian Art Center. It's practically spitting distance from their old spot at 685 Market, which, according a listing from the building's owner on Loopnet, is being shopped out as a possible restaurant space.

As we've mentioned in our previous report on the store's closing, it had been in place for over 45 years before rent hikes priced them out of their old retail spot. After they lost their lease, they opened a location across the bay in Berkeley, along the highly-trafficked Fourth Street shopping strip. Mark Luhn, owner of Jeffrey's Toys, lamented losing his original spot, as it, too, was highly-trafficked and brought in plenty of business. In 2015, as news was breaking about the impending closure, he told the Chronicle, "It's the best location, there's nothing like it."

It's heartening to see that Luhn seems to be doing well enough to open a second location, especially at a time when it's tough for mom-and-pop-style brick-and-mortar stores to compete with online megastores like Amazon. Hoodline says that Luhn is staying mum on details regarding the store's opening, and for now, all we know is that it's set to open this Sunday, October 1st. Expect an official announcement sometime real soon.
