The San Francisco Marathon shut down some streets this morning, and runners were going before dawn, circling the city through Golden Gate Park, across the Golden Gate Bridge, and back to the starting point on the Embarcadero.

And both of the winners this year in the men's and women's divisions are from the Bay Area. Jorge Maravilla of Mill Valley came in first place for the men with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 23 seconds. Winning the women's race was Stanford PhD student Devin McMahon with a time of 2 hours 52 minutes and 49 seconds.

Maravilla, who originally immigrated here from El Salvador as a child, is the general manager of San Francisco Running Company.

McMahon, 25, said she was surprised to be a top finisher in the race, but she was a track-and-field runner all four years in college at Cornell.

A total of 27,000 people participated in the race.

Below, a couple photos of Maravilla and McMahon.
