I'm very sorry if you were trying to get into the city Friday evening via BART to kick of Pride weekend, or if you were just trying to get home to the East Bay from work. As those of you in one of those situations likely already know, Friday became a mess with BART single-tracking through the Transbay Tube starting around the height of rush hour at 6 p.m. The cause was a small debris fire under the tracks in the Tube, which had to be extinguished before regular service could resume.

CBS 5 reports via a BART spokesperson that the source of the fire was a blown insulator.

ABC 7 reported that the fire was extinguished as of about 7:30 p.m. and BART was trying to resume normal service.

BART was reporting "residual delays" as of 7:35 p.m.

The issue, while minor, didn't exactly help BART's public relations problems.
