During this week's heat, over at the Oakland Zoo, some of the animals got treated to some ice to frolic in and play with (and eat), including a mother black bear and her three cubs who are currently in quarantine at the zoo.

The mother bear, who was captured by California Fish & Wildlife officials after she broke into a Kern County house and injured a homeowner in May with a swat from her paw, was set to be euthanized after she weaned her three cubs, before the Oakland Zoo offered to take the bear family in. It was determined that the young bears were too acclimated to humans to safely be released back into the wild, and the zoo decided to take them all instead for their 56-acre California Trail exhibit that is set to open next year. The bears arrived last week, as CBS 5 reports, and you can see them in the video above playing in a pile of ice provided to them by San Mateo-based Peninsula Ice.

Also having some fun with ice cubes and ice balls were some monkeys and otters, as you can see in the KRON 4 video below.
