In a report on a repeatedly stolen Mini Cooper, KRON 4 accidentally misidentifies the peer-to-peer car-sharing app that car owner Ben Yu uses to rent out his vehicle. It's GetAround, not "GetAway" — but maybe that mistake is Freudian, because the car has been stolen five times in a year, Yu says, likely by the same perpetrator. In fact, Yu has been playing a game of cat and mouse with that thief, tracking down the car with a GPS locator on the GetAround app.

But, as Yu describes the situation, it's "ironic" that GetAround helps him find the car, because it's also what got it stolen in the first place. According to Yu, the trouble began when someone slashed the convertible top of the car to grab the keys stored inside it for GetAround renters. Who would have seen that coming.

Now, because he apparently doesn't want to change the locks on the car, he's just gonna keep playing along, I guess. You know, Ben, you could just get a cool hobby like geocaching or something...
