Hey, do you remember when you felt guilty for being irritated by the rain because we so recently were suffering from drought conditions? Well, I'm not saying that the Bay Area will never again struggle with abnormally low rates of precipitation — that would be crazy talk! — but I do believe we've had enough rain this year to feel free to bitch about it as much as we want. So get ready to fire up your complaints later this week, as our brief break from storms is ending tomorrow evening.

According to the National Weather Service, our currently sunny skies in the Bay Area will again fill with rain Wednesday evening, for six more days of the stuff.

Describing the future as a "series of storms," the NWS says that the rain will "impact NorCal through early next week."

A satellite image of an approaching weather system from around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday tells the tale:

According to the NWS, "This storm is looking less wet than the storms last week. However, those storms last week left the region in a vulnerable state, and any additional rainfall at this stage could bring amplified impacts."

They are referring, of course, to local issues like floods, downed trees, damaged roadways, and that mudslide in Santa Cruz as well as potentially more catastrophic situations like the damaged auxiliary spillway at Lake Oroville Dam, which officials are racing to repair before these new storms hit. Godspeed, dam workers. You're going to need it.
