In the first disruption of what's expected to be many today, demonstrators opposing the inauguration of President Trump have blocked Market Street Friday morning.

KRON 4 reports that the demonstration has completely blocked Market between 10th and 11th Streets this morning, causing traffic to be diverted and Muni to be rerouted.

"Uber collaborates with Trump" one of the demonstration's large banners reads. "SF resist Trump," reads another.

The Chron reports that a morning protest in Oakland drew a small crowd, likely due to the inclement weather.

It goes without saying that today will be filled with protests and demonstrations, many of which will cause delays to transit and traffic. The SFMTA and BART seem aware of this, with the former urging you to follow them on Twitter and the latter running more and longer cars all day to accomodate the throngs of protesters expected throughout the Bay Area.

In addition, the San Francisco Police Department says they're ready for the task, saying via press release that they "will be prepared with staff and resources to help facilitate First Amendment expressions of free speech, while also maintaining peace and safety for residents and visitors and protecting property."

"The Police Department asks that everyone exercising their First Amendment rights be respectful and mindful of the safety of others while participating in this weekend’s events."
