When the ambitious new gallery and arts venue the Minnesota Street Project debuted last spring, we learned that chef-restaurateur Daniel Patterson (Coi, Locol, Aster, Haven, Plum Bar, Alta CA) had signed on to open a restaurant there. Today Inside Scoop brings word that that restaurant will be a casual offshoot of his mid-Market concept Alta CA, called Alta Cafe & Bar.

The space will be decorated with local art, and feature a 45-seat bar — even larger than the one at the center of the Market Street location.

According to the Minnesota Project website, there will be "fine casual" service (i.e. counter ordering) at breakfast and lunch, with full service at dinner. And like Alta CA, you can expect "a warm and welcoming setting, a menu of contemporary American food accented by the flavors of Eastern Europe, and a dynamic experience that transforms throughout the day." A rotisserie is going to be a focal point at the new location, with meats and seasonal vegetables forming the core of the evening menu.

Daniel Patterson Group wine director Mark Mendoza will be curating a wine and cocktail menu for the new offshoot, and there will be weekend brunch served as well.

"Local artists have always been an important part of Bay Area culture," says Patterson. "I am excited to be able to contribute to this project, which will help support our art community."

Look for Alta Cafe & Bar to open this spring, with an exact date TBA.*
