A man disguised as a pest-control worker tried and failed to rob the SF Jazz Center earlier this month, successfully bluffing his way into the building and past a security guard before his ruse was uncovered. Video of the incident (embedded below) shows the crook dressed head to toe in a white hazmat suit, complete with surgical gloves and a face mask, waving a card reading “ORTHO” and holding what looked to be a pesticide spray gun. However, according to police, he wasn't after any bugs.

CBS 5 reports that around 6:20 a.m. on December 12 the aspiring criminal hit the buzzer on the exterior of the building at 201 Franklin Street and was let in by a security guard. The guard had the man sign in, and then let him go on his way. It was only a short time later that the SF Jazz center employee released that no such worker was supposed to be in the building, and someone went searching for the man.

The guard found him on the third floor of the building with a laptop in hand and in the process of snagging a second one. Police say the guard then got the thief to drop the computers and chased him from the building — completely empty handed having left his pesticide sprayer behind. But hey, at least he took away some points for disguise creativity.

And while the pest-control thief's outfit was great, the top prize still goes to the guy who robbed a bank dressed as Santa during 2014's SantaCon.
