So Thanksgiving is over and everyone is already gearing up for the next round of holidays. But before you get too wrapped up finding dates for all those corporate end-of-year parties, we recommend you take a deep breath and check out some of the wonderful events San Francisco has to offer. Below is a selection of just some of what's going down this week.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 29

BARBARY COAST MEMOIRS: San Francisco has been a wild and rough place for some time, and the recently republished 1913 memoirs of a sex worker help to prove that fact. The San Francisco Public Library will be hosting a reading of the work, originally published by the San Francisco Bulletin in serialized form under the title A Voice of the Underworld, tonight at the main branch. The ghost-written memoirs attributed to one Alice Smith have been collected and republished in the book Alice: Memoirs of a Barbary Coast Prostitute, and the editors will be on hand to discuss.
San Francisco Public Library, Main Branch, 6:30 p.m., Free

MUSIC BLOG BENEFIT: Fans of The Bay Bridged music blog may want to consider spending their #GivingTuesday evening at this event, featuring free beer and benefiting the local non-profit that celebrates and promotes independent music. Founded ten years ago this year, the Bay Bridged is filling in where several local for-profit publications no longer can, after having their budgets slashed, or shutting down entirely. The party will feature a performance by M. Lockwood Porter, and BBQ available from Sneaky's BBQ. Standard Deviant Brewing, 14th and Mission, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., $15

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30

POST-ELECTION THERAPY: Supervisor David Campos joins a group of local politicos, strategists, and activists to talk out the ramifications of the last election. While the topic is a heavy one, the event is being moderated by comedian Yayne Abeba so you hopefully won't leave in tears.
The Women's Building, 6:30 p.m., Free

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1

GOLDEN GIRLS DRAG: Four drag performers play out two more Christmas-themed episodes of The Golden Girls television show. This is live on stage and is very much theater, not television, and it features local drag luminaries Heklina, Matthew Martin, D’Arcy Drollinger, and Holotta Tymes.
Victoria Theatre, 8:00 p.m., $30

VAUDEVILLE REVUE: For a vaudeville and variety show unlike anything you've ever experienced, look no further than Tourettes Without Regrets. The long running, once-a-month show brings in all types of performers and an extremely rowdy crowd for a crazy night of entertainment. Expect dance, slam poetry, rap battles, and possibly thrown raw chicken (that last one comes from personal experience).
Oakland Metro Operahouse, 8:30 p.m., $15

FEMALE EMPOWERMENT FUNDRAISER: Sip beer and groove to good tunes while simultaneously helping out a good cause at this fundraiser. Proceeds go to Spark, a nonprofit that works to build up local women-led organizations right here in San Francisco. Plus, there's a raffle!
Standard Deviant Brewing, 6:00 p.m., $0.00 - $75.00

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2

COMEDY DOUBLE FEATURE: Sometimes you just need to laugh, you know? If you're feeling a bit down these days, consider heading over to the Castro Theatre's double Monty Python feature of the Life of Brian and History of the World Part 1. Combined, you're looking at 186 minutes of your life where you can (hopefully) forget about all the madness happening around you.
Castro Theatre, 7:30 p.m., $12

WRESTLING: For those who love the spectacle of the WWE but want something a bit more, well, raw, Hoodslam has you covered. The extremely elaborate and staged wrestling match includes costumed characters (complete with villains and heroes) and plenty of body slams.
Oakland Metro Operahouse, 8:30 p.m., $15

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3

HOLIDAY DRAG: If you're in the mood for "a hella-queer rendition of The Nutcracker," then Drag Nutcrackular Nutcrackular is for you. With nine drag queens performing, the (more or less) quarterly drag show at the Rite Spot makes the holidays great again.
Rite Spot, 9:30 p.m., Free (Donations Encouraged)

FORMAL DANCE: Dusty Stax is reviving its "adult prom" series this week at the Verdi Club, with a live band playing soul (and very dance-friendly) tunes and attendees dressed to kill. Sip cocktails, make some romance, and shake a little ass.
Verdi Club, 8:00 p.m., $35

MEMOIR LAUNCH: Civil rights activist Cleve Jones has a new memoir, and this is your chance to celebrate its release. When We Rise covers his life spent battling HIV/AIDS, San Francisco in the midst of the AIDS crisis, and his co-founding of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
Strut, 5:00 p.m., Free

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4

TWISTED HOLIDAY TALES: When you've heard the same old holiday stories year after year and it's time for something new (no offense, Tiny Tim), Holidays With A Twist has your back. The show presents four plays that focus on classic holiday characters as they search for work the other 354 days of the year.
PianoFight, 3:00 p.m., $15 - $20

MONDAY, DECEMBER 5

WASHING MACHINE MUSIC: If hearing an entire album composed of sounds recorded from a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II model washing machine sounds like your thing, then get yourself over to a rendition of the new album Ultimate Care II from electronic duo Matmos. "The vocabulary of the Ultimate Care II, its rhythmic chugs, spin cycle drones, rinse cycle splashes, metallic clanks and electronic beeps are parsed into an eclectic syntax of diverse musical genres," event organizers tell us. Awesome.
Gray Area, 8:00 p.m., $15 (In Advance)
