Just hours after a shooting in SoMa killed one man Saturday, a second shooting in Bernal Heights injured two more.

According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Sergeant Michael Andraychak, the fatal shooting took place at 5:51 p.m. Saturday near Sixth and Natoma Streets in SoMa.

Andraychak says that when police arrived, they discovered "a male in his 20's suffering from an apparent gun shot wound." Though the victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, Andraychak says he was pronounced dead on arrival. As of Monday morning, the deceased man had not been publicly identified by the San Francisco Medical Examiner's office.

His death is San Francisco's 43rd homicide for 2016, following a fatal shooting Friday night at Plymouth and Broad Streets.

A few hours later, at 9:09 p.m., police were called to the scene of another act of gun violence — this one, a double shooting on the 500 block of Precita Avenue, which is near Alabama Street in Bernal Heights.

According to Andraychak, "two adult males were shot following a dispute," leaving one with serious injuries and a second with injuries police do not consider life-threatening. Both victims are in their 20s, Andraychak says.

Area residents say as many as 12 shots were fired in the confrontation, and say they heard "an exchange of gunfire some 45 minutes before the shooting," Mission Local reports.

“We heard gunfire (gun unload) about 45 minutes before this incident, we think on the other side of Caesar, maybe by the park near the highway,” an area resident told Mission Local. “It is sort of typical. We hear it. No sirens come and it is done.”

In both cases, Andraychak says, no arrests have been made, and "no suspect information is available." As always, if you have any information on these or other crimes, Andraychak asks that you call SFPD's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
