A 2-alarm fire at 1814 21st Avenue has left three people injured and nine Sunset residents without a home. The fire began at 6:41pm on Friday night and according to SFFD, was contained by 7:53pm. Surrounding Muni service was rerouted to accommodate the fire crews.

The fire may have originated on the 2nd floor of the 3-story building, which is where SFFD rescued two women and one man from a fire escape. All three people hurt in the fire sustained minor injuries and are expected to fully recover. The Red Cross is assisting the nine people who have been displaced.

“Thanks to the hard work of our crews, we stopped it before it got too bad,” SSFD Battalion Chief Jose Velo told SFGate.

The fire remains under investigation.
