After three years in business on Second Street, near AT&T Park, Merigan Sub Shop is calling it quits on October 8, and this is a sad thing. As Tablehopper puts it, "I don’t like to think about an SF without the terrina sub, let alone a Giants game without one."

The closing, in fact, will coincide with the end of the Giants' regular season, though this could be a week of tie-breakers for wild card spots.

The East Coast-inspired sandwich shop project from onetime A16 chef Liza Shaw seemed like a surefire hit given the location, and the adjacent office-worker traffic, but Shaw tells Tablehopper that the baseball game business proved too seasonal and other factors, including food costs, proved too challenging.

You've got a week left to grab a final chicken parm sub, or order one up from Caviar or Uber Eats for lunch.
