Even though comedian Louis C.K. wasn't due to be performing in the Bay Area for a couple of weeks — he's doing two sets at Bill Graham on July 8 followed by a show at Oracle Arena in Oakland on July 9 — he decided to do a couple of surprise warm-up gigs at the Nourse Theater on Thursday night, which were announced Monday to fans on his email list. And then he was spotted yesterday by friend of SFist Darwin Bell strolling on Haight Street, possibly with his daughter. As one commenter observes, "I love it! The quintessential New York guy wears a black blazer on Haight st.!"

Another friend apparently spotted Louis at Market and Noe on Saturday as well.

SF Weekly's Zack Ruskin caught C.K.'s set at the Nourse on Thursday, calling the choice between seeing him and watching Game 6 of the NBA Finals as a kind of "first world Sophie's Choice."

And if you're planning to see Louis in July, don't try filming his whole set on your cell phone from the audience. As he told one audience member at the Nourse, "I can see your phone. Please don’t fucking do that."
