A bizarre story is developing in Mountain View today, as The Mercury News reports that a late-night fire on Google's campus appears to have been caused by two "incendiary devices."

The fire was reported at 10:52 p.m. on the Google West campus, and firefighters and police arrived on scene shortly thereafter to discover minor damage to both a Google building and a Google Street View car. According to the paper, police confirmed they sent the devices away for testing but have said little else. A post on the Mountain View police blog confirms the basic facts, but notes that as "[this] is still an active investigation and at this time, we unfortunately can’t release anything further."

ABC 7 reached out to Google security, which was also on scene, but they perhaps unsurprisingly declined to comment.

According to NBC Bay Area, the devices appear to have been actually triggered, as Mountain View police are investigating who set them off. No one was reported injured in either fire, and the damage to both the car and building is considered minor. However, that there were some sort of incendiary devices on Google's campus is sure to attract a lot of police attention — regardless of how insignificant the damage actually was.
