A gang of alleged eggers' reign of terror ended late Wednesday night, when they crashed after police chased them down San Francisco's crowded and busy Powell Street.

It was 11:50 Wednesday evening when the California Highway Patrol received reports that four men were "driving around throwing eggs at people and cars," KRON 4 reports.

CHP officers spotted the car the alleged eggers were said to occupy near Ellis and O'Farrell Streets, but when they tried to pull it over, the suspects fled south on Powell Street, NBC Bay Area reports. The four men eventually crashed at the cable car turnaround at Powell and Market Streets, leaving at least one carton of eggs in their wake.

Once the dust/yolks had cleared, police discovered something even more interesting about the spawn hurlers' vehicle: Its "license plate was replaced with fake plates," KRON reports, suggesting to the cops that the car was stolen.

Meanwhile, the ornery alleged ovum tossers, described by NBC as in their 20s, had hopped out of the crashed vehicle and fled on foot, police say. One was caught by CHP, and two more were nabbed by officers with the San Francisco Police Department.

A fourth, police say, remains at large. A call to SFPD for the names of the arrested suspects and the charges under which they were booked was not returned at publication time.
