Officers have recovered a stolen guitar that was once played by a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and was on its way to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The guitar, valued at $30,000, was stolen from a Potrero Hill/Bayview home on August 16. According to a press release from the SFPD, the owner is a friend of former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, who gave him the 1966 Fender Telecaster. It is set to be loaned to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in two weeks.

Officers managed to track down the guitar, which they said changed hands three times, and reunited it with Frusciante's friend on Thursday.

"That is my guitar," said Frusciante's friend, with a palpable sense of relief, upon seeing the axe again. "I'm not famous but this guitar is."
