There's a new drinking and eating establishment to put on your radar in the Russian Hill environs: House Rules (2227 Polk Street), brought to you by the chef-owner of Hog & Rocks and former owner of Hi-Lo BBQ, Scott Youkilis, the restaurateurs behind Eddie Rickenbacker's, and the bar team behind Palm House and Bergerac. As Eater reports, the soft opening was last night, and there's plenty of bar-friendly food like lobster salad sliders, burgers, and the like.

There is both dinner available, and weekend brunch, as well as plenty of beers on tap and by the bottle, and several big flat screen TVs.

This is the narrow, former Pesce space on upper Polk, as redesigned by Michael Brennan with a long white marble-topped bar, a fireplace, and 25 leather-covered seats indoors. And Brennan has added some cheeky phrases in graphic print on the walls like "If you're drinking to forget, please pay in advance."

The beverage program, which includes some original craft cocktails, was put together by Fifty/Fifty, the new bar consulting company from the Palm House/Bergerac team of Anderson Pugash and Anthony Parks.

House Rules - 2227 Polk Street between Green and Vallejo - Open Tuesday-Friday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
