For everyone who didn't just get their first VC round or some exorbitant signing bonus and who toils, with the rest of us, among the moderately paid non-elite, free lunch is still a treat. So we wanted to make sure you knew that it's Super Duper Day once again, at which Super Duper Burgers celebrates their anniversary by handing out free burgers to the first 100 customers after 3 p.m. at each of their eight Bay Area locations. So if you're wondering what that line is about, now you know: free food.

Super Duper opened its first location in the Castro in April 2010, serving a Shake Shack-inspired menu of no-frills, old-fashioned burgers (made with Niman Ranch beef), fries, and milkshakes, and they've since expanded with seven more outlets around the Bay, including five in the city proper. The burgers are satisfying, greasy, and good — though probably not the best in the Bay Area as that Business Times bracket thing decided last year.

Mayor Ed Lee declared April 28, 2011 Super Duper Day with one of those recognition certificates for the company's community support, and this year it seems they moved the giveaway a day early. And in case you weren't aware, Super Duper is owned in part by Adriano Paganini, the same restaurateur who owns Starbelly, Beretta, Delarosa, Lolinda, Uno Dos Tacos, and the upcoming Belga in Cow Hollow.

The deal for Super Duper Day is as follows: The first 100 people in line at each location at 3 p.m. will receive a free mini burger, which is their single-patty 4 oz. burger topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and Super sauce. Also this year, the first person in line at each location gets a $100 gift card.
