We're getting closer to Thanksgiving, and even though it seems kind of early to be purchasing a bird, a bunch of frozen Butterball turkeys ended up stranded in an overturned big rig on the 680 freeway this morning. As KRON4 reports, the truck driver " he was making the transition from southbound I-680 onto eastbound Interstate 580 but took the Alcosta off-ramp [in San Ramon] by mistake." The truck was going too fast for the ramp, and ended up overturning.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m., as SFGate reports, and the driver remained trapped in the cab of the truck until emergency crews could get him out.

Approximately 40,000 pounds worth of turkey that was headed to a Costco in Tracy had to be transferred onto another rig this morning, and the off-ramp and part of the freeway remained closed until about 10 a.m. as a result. Also, some spilt fuel needed to be cleaned from the freeway and a nearby storm drain.

In related news, Butterball turkeys are cheap and terrible.
